October 27, 2026 · wweather1 editorial · 2 min read

The National Weather Service in Jacksonville has issued a Coastal Flood Warning for Northeast Florida beaches, in effect until 2:00 AM EDT on October 30. Moderate flooding during high tide and dangerous surf conditions are expected.

The Coastal Flood Warning was issued by the National Weather Service in Jacksonville, Florida, at 3:33 AM EDT on October 27. The affected regions include Coastal Nassau, Coastal Duval, Coastal Flagler, Northeast Coastal St. Johns, and Southeast Coastal St. Johns.

Moderate flooding is forecast during times of high tide. In addition, a High Surf Advisory covers large breaking waves of 7 to 10 feet, and a High Rip Current Risk remains active through late Thursday night.

Impacts from the flooding may include the closure of numerous roads, along with the inundation of low-lying homes, businesses, and critical infrastructure. Some shoreline and localized beach erosion is also anticipated across the affected coastal areas.

Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions are expected as rip currents can sweep swimmers into deeper water. Inexperienced swimmers are advised to stay out of the water until hazards subside.

Why it is dangerous and what to do

⚠️ Safety
• Take necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.
• Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth.
• Remain out of the water if you are an inexperienced swimmer, or swim only near a lifeguard.
• If caught in a rip current, relax and float, do not swim against the current, and swim parallel to the shoreline.
