Coastal Flood Warning Issued for Parts of New York and New Jersey
The National Weather Service in Upton, New York, has issued a Coastal Flood Warning for Manhattan and several counties in New Jersey, remaining in effect until 6:00 PM EDT on Sunday, September 27.
The alert was issued at 5:14 AM EDT on September 26. One to two feet of inundation above ground level is expected in vulnerable areas situated along the waterfront and shoreline.
In New York, the warning covers New York (Manhattan) County. In New Jersey, affected areas include Hudson, Eastern Bergen, Eastern Essex, and Eastern Union Counties.
Widespread flooding is expected near waterfronts, impacting roads, parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes or businesses with basements. Road closures are likely, and vehicles parked in vulnerable low-lying coastal spots may become flooded.
