The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued a Dust Storm Warning for Maricopa and Pinal counties until 10:15 PM MST.
At 9:14 PM MST, Doppler radar tracked a wall of dust extending from Kings Ranch to near Queen Creek and Chandler Heights, moving northwest at 30 mph. The system brings hazards including visibility of less than a quarter mile and strong winds exceeding 50 mph.
The conditions create dangerous, life-threatening travel across the affected region. Impacted locations include Phoenix, Mesa, Chandler, Scottsdale, Gilbert, Tempe, Apache Junction, Fountain Hills, Paradise Valley, Laveen, East Mesa, Gold Canyon, Sun Lakes, Queen Creek, and Tempe Marketplace.
Several major roadways are affected by the warning. These include Arizona Interstate 10 between mile markers 144 and 173, Arizona Interstate 17 between mile markers 195 and 200, and Arizona Route 51 between mile markers 1 and 4.
