Extreme Heat Warning Issued for Coachella Valley and San Diego County Deserts
The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for the Coachella Valley, San Diego County Deserts, and San Gorgonio Pass near Banning, in effect from Wednesday morning through Friday evening.
The National Weather Service in San Diego issued the warning on September 8 at 3:44 AM PDT. The extreme heat event is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM PDT on Wednesday, September 9, and will continue until 8:00 PM PDT on Friday, September 11, 2026.
Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with daytime temperatures forecasted to reach highs of 106 to 110 degrees. Overnight low temperatures are expected to stay in the 80s, limiting overnight relief from the elevated temperatures.
According to the National Weather Service, this event presents areas of Major HeatRisk. The high temperatures are expected to significantly increase the likelihood of heat-related illnesses for individuals in the affected regions.
