Extreme Heat Warning Issued for Coachella Valley and Surrounding Areas
The National Weather Service in San Diego has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for parts of Southern California, bringing dangerously hot conditions with temperatures reaching up to 117 degrees.
The National Weather Service issued the high-severity Extreme Heat Warning on August 22 at 9:43 PM PDT. The warning remains in effect until August 28 at 8:00 PM PDT.
Affected locations include the Coachella Valley, San Diego County Deserts, and the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning. During this event, temperatures are expected to range from 110 to 117.
Additional details indicate that overnight temperatures will remain 5 to 8 degrees above normal, which will limit relief from the heat.
Officials note that heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events.
