Extreme Heat Warning Issued for Coachella Valley and Surrounding Areas
The National Weather Service in San Diego has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for parts of Southern California, bringing dangerously hot conditions expected to last through Friday evening.
An Extreme Heat Warning has been issued, beginning at 10:00 AM on Wednesday and remaining in effect until 8:00 PM PDT on Friday. The advisory was officially issued on September 8 at 6:52 AM PDT.
The affected areas include the Coachella Valley, San Diego County Deserts, and the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning. Residents in these regions should prepare for major HeatRisk levels.
High temperatures are expected to reach between 106 and 110 degrees, while low temperatures will remain in the 80s. These very warm overnight temperatures will limit relief from the heat.
Heat-related illnesses are known to increase significantly during extreme heat events. The combination of high daytime temperatures and warm nights heightens the overall health risk for individuals in the impacted zones.
