Extreme Heat Warning Issued for Coastal and Inland Southern California
The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for several coastal and inland regions in Southern California, with temperatures expected to reach up to 102 degrees.
The alert was issued by the NWS office in Los Angeles/Oxnard on August 24 at 12:44 PM PDT. A Heat Advisory remains in effect until 10:00 AM PDT Tuesday, bringing temperatures up to 95 degrees. The Extreme Heat Warning then begins at 10:00 AM PDT Tuesday and continues until 8:00 PM PDT Friday.
The impacted locations include Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands, Los Angeles County Beaches, the Malibu Coast, Palos Verdes Hills, Ventura County Beaches, Ventura County Inland Coast, Santa Barbara County Southeastern Coast, Santa Barbara County Southwestern Coast, and the Los Angeles County Inland Coast, including Downtown Los Angeles.
Dangerously hot conditions are expected throughout the warning period. Weather officials warn that extreme heat events significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses.
