Extreme Heat Warning Issued for Coastal Orange and San Diego Counties
The National Weather Service in San Diego has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for coastal regions of Orange County and San Diego County, remaining in effect until 8:00 PM PDT on September 10.
The National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego office issued the alert at 7:44 PM PDT on September 9. The warning covers the Orange County Coastal Areas and San Diego County Coastal Areas.
Temperatures on Thursday are expected to reach the 80s at the beaches and rise into the mid to upper 90s across higher coastal terrain. Overnight low temperatures in the lower to mid 70s are anticipated to provide limited relief from the elevated heat.
The event presents Major to Extreme HeatRisk through Wednesday, transitioning to Moderate to Major HeatRisk on Thursday. Weather officials caution that heat-related illnesses rise significantly during extreme heat occurrences.
