Extreme Heat Warning Issued for Los Angeles County Region
The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for parts of Los Angeles County, effective from 8:00 AM Wednesday until 8:00 PM PDT Thursday. Temperatures are forecast to range between 92 and 108 degrees.
The warning was issued by NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA on September 9 at 1:11 AM PDT, following a Heat Advisory in effect through Wednesday morning. High temperatures are expected to peak on Wednesday for most areas, with humid conditions adding to the heat discomfort.
Affected locations include the Malibu Coast, Los Angeles County Beaches, Palos Verdes Hills, and the Los Angeles County Inland Coast, including Downtown Los Angeles. The warning also encompasses the Los Angeles County San Gabriel Valley, Calabasas, Agoura Hills, the Western and Eastern San Fernando Valleys, and both the Western and Eastern Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Areas.
National Weather Service officials note that heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events, as prolonged exposure to hot temperatures poses health risks.
