Extreme Heat Warning Issued for Parts of Southern California
The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for the Coachella Valley, San Diego County Deserts, and San Gorgonio Pass near Banning. The warning is in effect from Wednesday morning until Friday evening.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in San Diego issued the warning on September 8 at 7:01 AM PDT. The alert is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM PDT on Wednesday, September 9, and will remain in place until 8:00 PM PDT on Friday, September 11.
Dangerously hot conditions are forecast for the affected regions, with daytime high temperatures expected to reach between 106 and 110 degrees. Overnight low temperatures are projected to remain in the 80s, which will limit recovery and relief from the daytime heat.
According to the NWS, the affected areas will experience a Major HeatRisk. Residents are cautioned that heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events of this nature.
