Extreme Heat Warning Issued for Portions of Southern California
An Extreme Heat Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in San Diego for several desert and pass regions through Friday evening. High temperatures are forecasted to reach between 110 and 115 degrees.
The National Weather Service in San Diego, California, issued the warning at 3:47 AM PDT on August 25, effective until 8:00 PM PDT on Friday, August 28. The affected locations include the Coachella Valley, San Diego County Deserts, and the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning.
Dangerously hot weather is expected throughout the event, with daily high temperatures reaching 110 to 115 degrees. Low temperatures overnight will stay elevated, mostly ranging from the mid 80s to mid 90s.
According to the National Weather Service, overnight temperatures will be 5 to 10 degrees above normal, which will limit relief from the heat. These severe conditions significantly increase the likelihood of heat-related illnesses.
