Extreme Heat Warning Issued for San Diego County Coastal Areas

The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for San Diego County Coastal Areas, in effect from Friday, October 2, until Thursday, October 8.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in San Diego, California, issued the warning on October 1 at 12:29 AM PDT. The extreme heat warning is scheduled to take effect at 10:00 AM PDT on Friday, October 2, and remain in place until 8:00 PM PDT on Thursday, October 8.

High temperatures during this period are expected to range from the mid 80s to lower 90s in areas near the coast. In the mesas and other higher coastal terrain, temperatures are forecast to reach the mid 90s to around 100 degrees.

Overnight temperatures will remain very warm, with lows forecast to stay mostly in the lower to mid 70s. The NWS warns that the risk of heat-related illnesses increases significantly during extreme heat events.
