Extreme Heat Warning Issued for Southern California Desert Regions
The National Weather Service in San Diego has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for multiple desert and pass regions across Southern California. The alert remains in effect until Friday, August 28, at 8:00 PM PDT.
The National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego CA office issued the warning on August 24 at 1:58 AM PDT. Dangerously high temperatures are forecasted for the duration of the event.
Specific areas included under this warning are the Coachella Valley, the San Diego County Deserts, and the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning. High temperatures throughout these locations are expected to reach between 110 and 116 degrees.
According to the weather service, extreme heat events bring a significant increase in the potential for heat-related illnesses among affected populations.
