The National Weather Service in San Diego, California, has issued an Extreme Heat Warning beginning at 10 AM on Wednesday and remaining in effect until 8 PM PDT on Friday, October 9, 2026. The warning was officially issued on October 6 at 12:33 PM PDT.
The affected areas include the Coachella Valley, the San Diego County Deserts, and the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning. High temperatures are expected to reach as high as 108 degrees on Thursday.
In addition to the high daytime temperatures, nights will remain quite warm, with low temperatures forecast in the mid-70s to lower 80s.
Impacts from the weather event include a significant increase in heat-related illnesses during extreme heat events.
