Extreme Heat Warning Issued for Southwest California
An Extreme Heat Warning has been issued by NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA for a large portion of southwest California. Dangerously hot conditions, with temperatures ranging from 95 to 110 degrees, are expected from 10 AM PDT Friday, July 31, to 8 PM PDT Sunday, August 2.
The National Weather Service (NWS) Los Angeles/Oxnard CA has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for a significant portion of southwest California. The warning, which was issued on July 28 at 9:57 AM PDT, is in effect from 10 AM PDT Friday, July 31, until 8 PM PDT Sunday, August 2.
Conditions are forecast to be dangerously hot, with temperatures expected to reach between 95 and 110 degrees. These extreme heat and high humidity events can significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses. Officials note that heat hazards may also extend into the following week for some parts of the region.
Areas specifically included in the warning cover the coastal ranges and adjacent foothills, as well as the coastal valleys. These include the Cuyama Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, Southern Salinas Valley, San Luis Obispo County Interior Valleys, San Luis Obispo County Mountains, Santa Ynez Mountains Western Range, Santa Ynez Mountains Eastern Range, Santa Barbara County Interior Mountains, Ventura County Inland Coast, Lake Casitas, and Ojai Valley.
