An Extreme Heat Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Mount Holly NJ. The watch is in effect for Atlantic Coastal Cape May, Coastal Atlantic, and Coastal Ocean Counties. It was issued on June 29 at 2:46 AM EDT and remains in effect until July 4 at 8:00 PM EDT.
Dangerously hot conditions are anticipated, with heat index values potentially reaching up to 105 degrees during daytime hours. These conditions are expected to begin Thursday afternoon, July 2, 2026, and continue through Saturday evening, July 4, 2026.
The NWS warns that heat-related illnesses increase significantly during events with extreme heat and high humidity. Very warm low temperatures, expected to be in the low to mid-70s at night, will offer little relief from the heat. Multiple days of near-record-breaking temperatures are also anticipated, which will exacerbate the impacts from the heat and humidity.
