Extreme Heat Watch Issued for Coastal San Diego and Orange Counties
The National Weather Service in San Diego has issued an Extreme Heat Watch for the coastal areas of San Diego and Orange counties from Tuesday morning through Friday evening. Temperatures are expected to reach up to 93 degrees during the event.
The National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego issued an Extreme Heat Watch on August 23 at 5:17 AM PDT. The alert applies to the Orange County Coastal Areas and San Diego County Coastal Areas, beginning Tuesday morning, August 25, and lasting until Friday, August 28, at 8:00 PM PDT.
Dangerously hot weather is expected throughout the affected coastal areas, with potential high temperatures reaching up to 93 degrees. The NWS highlights that heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events.
Overnight low temperatures are forecasted to remain 5 to 7 degrees above normal. These elevated nighttime temperatures will limit relief from the heat, creating higher risk particularly for individuals without adequate cooling.
The high-severity watch advises residents across the covered regions to prepare for prolonged high heat levels through the end of the week.
