Extreme Heat Watch Issued for Los Angeles and Ventura Counties
The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Watch for parts of Los Angeles and Ventura counties, bringing dangerously hot conditions starting Friday morning.
The National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA issued the Extreme Heat Watch on September 30 at 9:46 AM PDT. The watch is scheduled to remain in effect until October 8 at 8:00 PM PDT, with conditions beginning Friday morning, October 2, 2026.
Dangerously hot conditions are expected to affect the coast and valleys of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, including areas such as Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands, Santa Clarita Valley, Ventura County Beaches, Ventura County Inland Coast, Lake Casitas, Ojai Valley, Central Ventura County Valleys, Malibu Coast, Los Angeles County Beaches, Palos Verdes Hills, and the Los Angeles County Inland Coast including Downtown Los Angeles.
Temperatures are forecasted to reach up to 90 degrees at the coast and up to 105 degrees in the valleys. Heat-related illnesses increase significantly during such extreme heat events.
Very hot temperatures are likely to continue into the second week of October, which may require an extension of the current weather advisory.
