There is a high risk for dangerous heat illness for anyone in the affected areas. This risk is particularly noted for the very young, the very old, those without air conditioning, and individuals active outdoors.
While temperatures are expected to cool slightly after Thursday, conditions are projected to remain well above normal through the upcoming weekend.
