Extreme Heat Watch Issued for San Diego and Orange County Coastal Areas
The National Weather Service in San Diego has issued an Extreme Heat Watch for coastal areas of San Diego and Orange counties, in effect from Tuesday morning through Friday evening. Possible daytime temperatures will range from 85 to 92 degrees.
The National Weather Service in San Diego, California, issued the alert on August 23 at 9:40 PM PDT. The watch applies to San Diego County Coastal Areas and Orange County Coastal Areas, taking effect on August 25 at 10:00 AM PDT and lasting through August 28 at 8:00 PM PDT.
Daytime temperatures between 85 and 92 degrees are forecasted for the affected areas. Additionally, overnight low temperatures are expected to remain around 5 to 7 degrees above normal throughout the event.
According to the National Weather Service, heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. The elevated overnight temperatures will limit relief from the heat, particularly for individuals without access to adequate cooling.
