Flood Watch Issued for Main Hawaiian Islands Through Late Wednesday Night

October 26, 2026 · wweather1 editorial · 1 min read

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a Flood Watch for all main Hawaiian Islands from Tuesday morning through late Wednesday night. Heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms may result in flash flooding across the area.

The National Weather Service Honolulu HI issued the alert on October 26 at 3:05 AM HST. The watch is scheduled to begin on October 27 at 6:00 AM HST and remain active until October 29 at 5:00 AM HST.

A trough moving over the state is expected to bring abundant tropical moisture and remain nearly stationary for a few days. Heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms with intense rain rates could develop on Tuesday and persist through Wednesday evening across all main islands.

Excessive rainfall may lead to flash flooding. Flood-prone roads and low-lying areas could be closed due to overflowing streams and elevated runoff. Rapid runoff in urban areas may also cause more significant flooding and property damage.

Why it is dangerous and what to do

⚠️ Safety
• Monitor updated forecasts for changes in weather conditions.
• Be prepared to take action if Flash Flood Warnings are issued.
• Avoid driving or walking through flooded roads and low-lying areas.
