Flood Watch Issued for Multiple Hawaiian Islands

October 29, 2026 · wweather1 editorial · 1 min read

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a Flood Watch for Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Maui, Kahoolawe, and the Big Island through late tonight.

A trough moving over the state is bringing abundant tropical moisture to the area. Heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected to produce flash flooding that may impact areas from Oahu through the Big Island.

Significant flooding may occur due to the overflow of streams and drainages. Roads in several areas may experience closures, and property damage is possible in urban or low-lying locations due to runoff. Landslides may also occur in areas with steep terrain.

While the greatest flood threat will be focused over Oahu and Maui County, all islands remain at risk as heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms with intense rain rates may develop at any time through tonight.

Why it is dangerous and what to do
