Flood Watch Issued for Oahu Until October 8

October 8, 2026 · wweather1 editorial · 1 min read

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a Flood Watch for Oahu, effective until October 8 at 6:00 PM HST, due to the threat of flash flooding from excessive rainfall.

A deepening area of low pressure north of the Hawaiian Islands has drawn deep tropical moisture over the region, creating conditions favorable for flooding across Oahu today.

Affected areas under the watch include the Waianae Coast, Oahu North Shore, Olomana, Central Oahu, Waianae Mountains, East Honolulu, Honolulu Metro, Ewa Plain, Koolau Windward, and Koolau Leeward.

Heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to continue into the afternoon. The system may feature training heavy showers containing intense rain rates, which can rapidly increase water levels.

Anticipated impacts include potential closures of flood-prone roads and low-lying areas due to elevated runoff and overflowing streams. Additionally, urban areas may experience more significant flooding and property damage driven by rapid runoff.
