Flood Watch Issued for Parts of New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania
The National Weather Service in Mount Holly, New Jersey, has issued a Flood Watch for multiple counties across Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania due to the threat of excessive rainfall.
The Flood Watch is in effect from late tonight through Sunday morning, September 13, at 12:00 PM EDT. The alert covers portions of northern Delaware, southeast Pennsylvania, and several areas in New Jersey.
In Delaware, the affected area includes New Castle County. Impacted areas in New Jersey include Camden, Coastal Ocean, Eastern Monmouth, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Northwestern Burlington, Ocean, Salem, Somerset, Southeastern Burlington, and Western Monmouth counties. In southeast Pennsylvania, the watch includes Delaware, Eastern Montgomery, Lower Bucks, Philadelphia, Upper Bucks, and Western Montgomery counties.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop this evening, becoming more widespread late tonight and into Sunday morning. Strongest storms could produce heavy rainfall ranging from 1 to 2 inches in a short window of time.
Excessive runoff from the heavy rainfall may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
