Flood Watch Issued for Parts of Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia

October 4, 2026 · wweather1 editorial · 2 min read

The National Weather Service in Jacksonville, Florida, has issued a Flood Watch in effect from Sunday afternoon through Monday morning for northeast Florida and southeast Georgia. Excessive rainfall may lead to flooding in low-lying and urban areas.

The alert was issued on October 4 at 1:22 AM EDT by NWS Jacksonville FL and will remain active from noon EDT today through October 5 at 8:00 AM EDT. The affected territory covers areas along Interstate 10 in Northeast Florida and all of Southeast Georgia.

Forecasters report that localized to scattered rainfall amounts between 3 and 5 inches are possible. Because prior rain has already partially saturated the ground, additional heavy or training downpours are expected to cause rapid flooding.

In Florida, the watch includes Baker, Coastal Duval, Coastal Nassau, Eastern Hamilton, Inland Nassau, Northern Columbia, South Central Duval, Trout River, Western Duval, and Western Hamilton. In Georgia, affected areas include Appling, Atkinson, Bacon, Brantley, Clinch, Coastal Camden, Coastal Glynn, Coffee, Echols, Inland Camden, Inland Glynn, Jeff Davis, Northeastern Charlton, Northern Ware, Pierce, Southern Ware, Wayne, and Western Charlton.

Excessive runoff from the heavy rain may cause rivers, creeks, and streams to rise, flooding nearby low-lying locations. Urban areas and places with poor drainage are also vulnerable to flooding.

Why it is dangerous and what to do

⚠️ Safety
