NWS Las Vegas NV has issued a Flood Watch starting Saturday morning through late Sunday night due to the potential for flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch that remains in effect until October 12 at 5:00 AM PDT. The alert was officially issued on October 9 at 12:25 PM PDT by NWS Las Vegas NV.
Affected regions include portions of northwest Arizona, southeast California, and Nevada. Specifically, areas under the watch comprise the Hualapai Mountains, Lake Havasu and Fort Mohave, the Arizona and Nevada sides of Lake Mead and Lake Mohave, Northwest Deserts, Northwest Plateau, Cadiz Basin, Eastern Mojave Desert, Morongo Basin, San Bernardino County-Upper Colorado River Valley, Las Vegas Valley, Lincoln County, Northeast Clark County, Sheep Range, Southern Clark County, Spring Mountains-Red Rock Canyon, and Western Clark and Southern Nye County.
Incoming tropical moisture is expected to generate widespread shower and thunderstorm activity across the region, which may cause flash flooding.
Excessive runoff from the storms may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Additionally, flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas, and low-water crossings may become flooded.
