The National Weather Service in Las Vegas has issued a Flood Watch affecting multiple areas across northwest Arizona, southeast California, and Nevada due to the threat of excessive rainfall.
A Flood Watch remains in effect from October 10 at 10:37 PM PDT until October 12 at 5:00 AM PDT. According to the National Weather Service, flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible through late Sunday night.
The affected regions include portions of northwest Arizona such as the Hualapai Mountains, Lake Havasu and Fort Mohave, the Arizona sides of Lake Mead and Lake Mohave, Northwest Deserts, and Northwest Plateau. In southeast California, impacted areas include the Cadiz Basin, Death Valley National Park, Eastern Mojave Desert, Morongo Basin, San Bernardino County-Upper Colorado River Valley, and Western Mojave Desert. In Nevada, areas under the watch include Esmeralda and Central Nye County, the Nevada sides of Lake Mead and Lake Mohave, Las Vegas Valley, Lincoln County, Northeast Clark County, Sheep Range, Southern Clark County, Spring Mountains-Red Rock Canyon, and Western Clark and Southern Nye County.
Incoming tropical moisture is expected to generate widespread shower and thunderstorm activity, some of which may cause flash flooding. Excessive runoff could result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations, as well as poor drainage and urban areas.
Additionally, low-water crossings may become flooded as a result of the ongoing weather conditions.
