Flood Watch Issued for Portions of Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia

October 7, 2026 · wweather1 editorial · 2 min read

The National Weather Service in Jacksonville, Florida, has issued a Flood Watch for parts of northeast Florida and southeast Georgia due to the potential for flooding caused by excessive rainfall.

The Flood Watch is in effect until 6:00 PM EDT this evening, October 7, 2026. Affected areas in northeast Florida include Inland Nassau, Inland Flagler, Coastal Nassau, Coastal Duval, Eastern Clay, Eastern Putnam, Coastal Flagler, Trout River, Northeast Coastal St. Johns, South Central Duval, Southeast Coastal St. Johns, Western Duval, Northern Inland St. Johns, Southern Inland St. Johns, and Western St. Johns. In southeast Georgia, the watch includes Inland Camden and Coastal Camden.

According to the National Weather Service, waves of moderate to heavy rainfall will continue to move onshore into the Atlantic coastal areas of northeast Florida and southeast Georgia through the afternoon. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected, with locally higher amounts possible.

Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations, as well as poor drainage and urban areas. Additionally, heavy rainfall may combine with higher-than-normal tidal levels, which could worsen flood issues in some Atlantic coastal and St. Johns River locations.
