September 25, 2026 · wweather1 editorial · 2 min read

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for coastal Delaware and several coastal counties in New Jersey, in effect from this evening until Sunday morning.

The National Weather Service Mount Holly NJ issued the alert on September 25 at 4:43 AM EDT. The affected areas include the Delaware Beaches in Delaware, as well as Eastern Monmouth, Atlantic Coastal Cape May, Coastal Atlantic, and Coastal Ocean counties in New Jersey.

Ahead of the warning, a Wind Advisory is in effect until 6:00 PM EDT this evening, bringing northeast winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. The High Wind Warning will then take over from 6:00 PM this evening until 6:00 AM EDT on Sunday, September 27. During the warning period, north winds of 30 to 40 mph are expected, with gusts reaching up to 60 mph. Strong winds may also persist into Sunday depending on the track of the storm.

The forecasted high winds are expected to cause impacts including blowing down trees and power lines, which may result in power outages. Travel will be difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles, and unsecured outdoor objects are likely to be blown around.

Why it is dangerous and what to do

⚠️ Safety
• Secure loose outdoor objects that could be blown around or damaged by the wind.
• Use extra caution if driving, especially when operating high-profile vehicles.
• Prepare for potential power outages due to fallen trees and downed power lines.
