High Wind Warning Issued for Coastal Delaware and New Jersey
The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a High Wind Warning for coastal areas of Delaware and New Jersey, in effect until 6:00 AM EDT on Sunday, September 27. North winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are expected to affect the region.
The warning, which was issued on September 26 at 4:08 AM EDT, impacts Delaware Beaches County in Delaware. In New Jersey, the affected areas include Eastern Monmouth, Atlantic Coastal Cape May, Coastal Atlantic, and Coastal Ocean Counties.
Forecasters state that the high winds will bring sustained north winds of 30 to 40 mph, with gusts reaching up to 60 mph. This warning remains in effect until Sunday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, these damaging winds are expected to blow down trees and power lines, resulting in widespread power outages. Travel will also be difficult across the affected region, particularly for high-profile vehicles.
