The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Watch and Wind Advisory for coastal regions in New Jersey and Delaware. Wind gusts could reach up to 60 mph from Friday evening into Saturday afternoon.
The National Weather Service office in Mount Holly, New Jersey, issued the weather alerts on September 24 at 4:10 PM EDT for coastal areas in the region.
The impacted locations include Delaware Beaches County in Delaware, as well as Eastern Monmouth, Atlantic Coastal Cape May, Coastal Atlantic, and Coastal Ocean Counties in New Jersey.
A Wind Advisory is in effect until 6:00 PM EDT Friday, with northeast winds ranging from 25 to 35 mph and gusts up to 45 mph. Following the advisory, a High Wind Watch will run from Friday evening through Saturday afternoon, ending at 6:00 PM EDT on September 26. During the watch period, north winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are possible.
The National Weather Service warns that damaging winds could blow down trees, tree limbs, and power lines, leading to potential widespread power outages. Driving may be difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles, and unsecured outdoor objects could be blown around.
