National Weather Service Issues Extreme Heat Warning for Parts of Nevada, California, and Arizona
The National Weather Service in Las Vegas has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for portions of southern Nevada, southeast California, and northwest Arizona. The warning is active from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM PDT / MST on Thursday, September 10.
Dangerously hot late-season conditions are expected across the region. High temperatures are forecasted to reach between 112 and 116 degrees Fahrenheit in Death Valley and the Colorado River Valley. Temperatures in the Las Vegas Valley, Moapa Valley, and Pahrump Valley are expected to reach between 105 and 110 degrees Fahrenheit.
The warning covers multiple locations, including Death Valley National Park, the Cadiz Basin, and the San Bernardino County-Upper Colorado River Valley in California. In Arizona, impacted areas include Lake Havasu, Fort Mohave, the Northwest Deserts, and the Arizona sides of Lake Mead and Lake Mohave. In Nevada, affected zones include Northeast Clark County, Western Clark and Southern Nye County, the Las Vegas Valley, and the Nevada sides of Lake Mead and Lake Mohave.
The National Weather Service warns that extreme heat significantly increases the risk of heat-related illnesses. Residents and visitors in the affected regions are advised to monitor local forecast updates and take appropriate precautions during the high-temperature event.
