The Heat Advisory is in effect from 10 AM Sunday to 10 AM PDT Tuesday, bringing expected temperatures up to 94 degrees. It will be followed by an Extreme Heat Watch from Tuesday morning through Friday, August 28 at 8:00 PM PDT, when dangerously hot conditions with temperatures up to 100 degrees are possible.
The impacted areas comprise Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands, Los Angeles County Beaches, Malibu Coast, Palos Verdes Hills, Los Angeles County Inland Coast including Downtown Los Angeles, Santa Barbara County Southeastern Coast, Santa Barbara County Southwestern Coast, Ventura County Beaches, and Ventura County Inland Coast.
According to weather officials, hot temperatures can cause heat illnesses, and the risk of heat-related illnesses increases significantly during extreme heat events.
