NWS Issues Extreme Heat Warning for Parts of Arizona, California, and Nevada
The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning effective from August 21 at 7:31 PM PDT until August 23 at 8:00 PM PDT, bringing dangerously hot conditions to the region.
The National Weather Service in Las Vegas, NV, has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for multiple areas, including Lake Havasu and Fort Mohave, the Arizona and Nevada sides of Lake Mead and Lake Mohave, the Northwest Deserts, Death Valley National Park, the Upper Colorado River Valley in San Bernardino County, and the Las Vegas Valley.
Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures reaching up to 115 to 118 degrees are expected through Death Valley and the lower Colorado River Valley. Highs between 107 and 110 degrees are anticipated in other areas, alongside near-record warm low temperatures in urban settings.
The warning remains in effect until 8:00 PM PDT on Sunday, August 23. Authorities note that the risk of heat-related illnesses increases significantly during such extreme weather events.
