August 25, 2026 · wweather1 editorial · 2 min read

The National Weather Service in Las Vegas has issued an Extreme Heat Warning effective until August 28 at 8:00 PM PDT for portions of northwest Arizona, southeast California, and southern Nevada.

The Extreme Heat Warning was issued on August 25 at 1:02 AM PDT and will remain in effect through Friday evening. Affected areas include Death Valley National Park, the Mojave Desert, the Las Vegas Valley, the Colorado River Valley, and surrounding regions.

High temperatures are forecast to reach 115 to 118 degrees across Death Valley and the Colorado River Valley. Temperatures between 108 and 112 degrees are expected across the Las Vegas Valley, Moapa Valley, Pahrump Valley, and Morongo Valley, while the Hualapai Mountains will see highs of 90 to 95 degrees. Overnight lows will remain elevated in the upper-80s to low-90s across desert valleys.

According to the National Weather Service, extreme heat events significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses. Members of the public are advised to monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates throughout the event.

For those working outdoors, safety guidelines recommend scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool location, and emergency services should be called immediately in cases of heat stroke.
