NWS Issues Extreme Heat Warning for Phoenix Metropolitan Area Through August 29
The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for the Phoenix metropolitan area through 8:00 PM MST on Saturday, August 29. Afternoon temperatures are forecast to reach between 108 and 116 degrees.
The alert was issued on August 24 at 1:07 AM MST by NWS Phoenix AZ. Specific locations affected include the Northwest Valley, Buckeye/Avondale, Deer Valley, Central Phoenix, North Phoenix/Glendale, Scottsdale/Paradise Valley, East Valley, South Mountain/Ahwatukee, and Southeast Valley/Queen Creek.
Officials warn of an extreme heat risk that increases the likelihood of heat-related illnesses, such as heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke. The National Weather Service noted that heat stroke can lead to death.
