NWS Issues Extreme Heat Warning for Portions of Arizona, California, and Nevada

An Extreme Heat Warning has been issued for portions of northwest Arizona, southeast California, and southern Nevada, bringing dangerously hot late-season conditions.

The National Weather Service in Las Vegas, Nevada, issued an Extreme Heat Warning on September 9 at 4:24 AM PDT, which remains in effect until September 10 at 8:00 PM PDT.

Dangerously hot late-season conditions are expected, with high temperatures reaching 112 to 116 degrees in Death Valley and the Colorado River Valley. Temperatures are expected to reach 105 to 110 degrees in the Las Vegas Valley, Moapa Valley, and Pahrump Valley.

Affected areas include Lake Havasu and Fort Mohave, the Arizona side of Lake Mead and Lake Mohave, the Northwest Deserts, Death Valley National Park, Cadiz Basin, the San Bernardino County-Upper Colorado River Valley, Northeast Clark County, Western Clark and Southern Nye County, the Las Vegas Valley, the Nevada side of Lake Mead, and Lake Mohave.

Heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. The warning is scheduled from 10:00 AM PDT to 8:00 PM PDT on Thursday.
