NWS Issues Extreme Heat Warning for Southwest California

This warning is in effect from 10 AM PDT on Friday, July 31, until 8 PM PDT on Sunday, August 2. Dangerously hot conditions are anticipated, with temperatures forecast to reach between 95 and 110 degrees.
A large portion of southwest California is under this warning, including the coastal ranges, adjacent foothills, and coastal valleys. Specific areas named are Cuyama Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, Southern Salinas Valley, San Luis Obispo County Interior Valleys, San Luis Obispo County Mountains, Santa Ynez Mountains Western Range, Santa Ynez Mountains Eastern Range, Santa Barbara County Interior Mountains, Ventura County Inland Coast, Lake Casitas, and Ojai Valley.
The NWS states that heat related illnesses are expected to increase significantly during this period of extreme heat. Residents should be aware that heat hazards may persist into the following week for certain parts of the region.
