NWS Issues Flash Flood Warning for Bexar and Comal Counties
The National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio has issued a Flash Flood Warning for northern Bexar County and south central Comal County in Texas. The warning was issued on August 28 at 9:09 PM CDT and remains in effect until August 29 at 12:15 AM CDT.
At 9:09 PM CDT on August 28, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Rain gauge observations show between 2 and 3 inches of rain have already fallen, with additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches possible.
The National Weather Service reported that flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. The primary threat includes life-threatening flash flooding of creeks, streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses.
Locations expected to experience flash flooding include San Antonio, Schertz, Converse, Universal City, Live Oak, Selma, San Antonio International Airport, Randolph AFB, Leon Valley, Helotes, Kirby, Alamo Heights, Windcrest, Terrell Hills, Garden Ridge, Shavano Park, Hollywood Park, and Olmos Park.
