The National Weather Service in Miami has issued a Flood Watch for all of South Florida, in effect through 7:00 PM EST on Monday, November 2. Heavy rainfall may cause localized flash flooding and street closures across the region.
An upper-level low in the Gulf and Bahamas will continue to influence storm activity through Monday evening. Due to a lack of a strong surface forcing mechanism, predictability regarding precisely where and when the heaviest rain will fall remains low. However, environmental conditions continue to support slow-moving storm cells capable of heavy precipitation.
Forecast rainfall totals indicate common amounts of 1 to 3 inches where showers and thunderstorms develop. Scattered locations throughout South Florida may receive 3 to 5 inches, while isolated high-end amounts could peak around 6 to 9 inches. These higher accumulations may occur rapidly over a period of 2 to 4 hours.
The primary impacts associated with this event include street flooding, road closures, and limited impact to structures in flood-prone areas. Pockets of heavy rainfall resulted in localized flash flooding on Sunday, and those same areas have the potential to be impacted again on Monday.
The Flood Watch covers all of South Florida, encompassing Glades, Hendry, Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties across coastal, metropolitan, and inland areas.
