NWS Issues Heat Advisory and Extreme Heat Watch for Southern California Areas
The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard, California, has issued a Heat Advisory and an Extreme Heat Watch for coastal and inland areas, with temperatures reaching up to 100 degrees possible.
A Heat Advisory is in effect from 10:00 AM this morning to 10:00 AM PDT Tuesday. Temperatures during this advisory period are expected to reach up to 94 degrees.
Following the advisory, an Extreme Heat Watch will take effect from Tuesday morning through Friday evening at 8:00 PM PDT. Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures up to 100 degrees are possible during this time.
The affected regions include Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands, Los Angeles County Beaches, Los Angeles County Inland Coast including Downtown Los Angeles, Malibu Coast, Palos Verdes Hills, Santa Barbara County Southeastern Coast, Santa Barbara County Southwestern Coast, Ventura County Beaches, and Ventura County Inland Coast.
According to the National Weather Service, hot temperatures may cause heat-related illnesses, which increase significantly during extreme heat events.
