The National Weather Service in Jacksonville, Florida, has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for parts of northeast and northern Florida as well as southeast Georgia, effective until August 18 at 8:00 PM EDT.
Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with heat index values ranging from 110 to 115. Additionally, a Heat Advisory is in effect with heat index values between 108 and 112.
The warning covers numerous areas including Suwannee, Baker, Inland Nassau, Union, Bradford, Gilchrist, Inland Flagler, Eastern Hamilton, Coastal Nassau, Coastal Duval, Eastern Clay, Eastern Alachua, Eastern Putnam, Coastal Flagler, Eastern Marion, Western Hamilton, Trout River, Western Clay, Northeast Coastal St. Johns, Western Alachua, and Western portions.
Impacts from these high temperatures and high humidity include a significant increase in heat-related illnesses. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses during the event.
