The National Weather Service in Las Vegas has issued a Flood Watch for parts of southern Nevada and northwest Arizona, active through 5:00 AM PDT on October 12. Flash flooding remains possible as lingering moisture interacts with a low-pressure system.
The National Weather Service (NWS) Las Vegas office issued a Flood Watch at 11:42 PM PDT on October 11, remaining in effect until 5:00 AM PDT (5:00 AM MST) on Monday, October 12. Excessive rainfall across the region creates a continued risk for localized flash flooding.
According to forecasters, isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to persist through early Monday morning. The activity is driven by lingering moisture from Rachel interacting with an incoming low-pressure system.
Anticipated impacts include excessive runoff that may result in the flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and low-lying or flood-prone areas. Urban centers, locations with poor drainage, and low-water crossings are also vulnerable to high water.
In Nevada, the watch covers the Las Vegas Valley, Lincoln County, Northeast Clark County, Southern Clark County, Western Clark and Southern Nye County, the Sheep Range, Spring Mountains-Red Rock Canyon, and the Nevada side of Lake Mead and Lake Mohave.
In northwest Arizona, affected locations include the Hualapai Mountains, Lake Havasu and Fort Mohave, Northwest Deserts, Northwest Plateau, and the Arizona side of Lake Mead and Lake Mohave. Officials advise residents to remain alert for subsequent updates.
