NWS Mount Holly Issues Flood Watch for Portions of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly, New Jersey, has issued a Flood Watch effective from Thursday afternoon through late Thursday night. Heavy rainfall from showers and thunderstorms may cause flash flooding across parts of northern Delaware, New Jersey, and southeast Pennsylvania.

The National Weather Service issued the Flood Watch on August 26 at 2:31 PM EDT. It is scheduled to take effect on Thursday afternoon and continue through Friday, August 28 at 4:00 AM EDT. Showers and thunderstorms are forecast to develop by mid-day Thursday, with several storms expected to produce heavy rainfall.

Rainfall totals of 1 to 2 inches are expected across the region, with localized amounts of 3 to 5 inches possible in the strongest storms. The National Weather Service noted that flash flooding could occur in urban areas and locations with poor drainage.

The affected areas in Delaware include New Castle. In New Jersey, the watch covers Sussex, Morris, Hunterdon, Somerset, Middlesex, Western Monmouth, Mercer, Gloucester, Camden, and Northwestern Burlington. In southeast Pennsylvania, the watch includes Delaware, Philadelphia, Western Chester, Eastern Chester, Western Montgomery, Eastern Montgomery, Upper Bucks, and Lower Bucks.
