The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia.
The National Weather Service Baltimore MD/Washington DC issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch 588 on August 16 at 8:38 PM EDT. The watch remains in effect until 11:00 PM EDT this evening.
The affected areas in Maryland include Prince Georges and Charles counties. In Virginia, the watch includes Arlington, Fairfax, and Prince William counties, along with the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas, and Manassas Park. The District of Columbia is also included.
Numerous specific communities and localities are within the watch area, including Washington, Bowie, Greenbelt, Waldorf, Reston, and Woodbridge, as well as Reagan National Airport.
Residents in the designated regions should monitor weather conditions closely through the remainder of the evening as the watch stays valid until 11:00 PM EDT.
