The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for multiple counties across Illinois and Indiana.
The National Weather Service issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch 610 on August 21 at 8:35 PM CDT. The watch remains in effect until August 21 at 10:00 PM CDT.
The alert covers 14 counties in Illinois, including Cook, De Kalb, DuPage, Ford, Grundy, Iroquois, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, La Salle, Lee, Livingston, Ogle, and Will counties. Additionally, two counties in northwest Indiana are included: Lake and Newton.
Numerous cities are located within the watch area, including Chicago, Aurora, Joliet, Naperville, Elgin, Gary, Hammond, and Merrillville. Residents in these locations are advised to monitor weather conditions as the watch remains active.
