The National Weather Service in Miami has issued a Coastal Flood Warning for Coastal Broward and Coastal Miami-Dade counties, in effect until Wednesday at 8:00 PM EDT. Significant coastal flooding and hazardous rip currents are expected throughout the area.
The National Weather Service office in Miami, Florida, issued the Coastal Flood Warning at 1:20 AM EDT on October 26. The alert covers Coastal Broward County and Coastal Miami-Dade County and is active until 8:00 PM EDT on October 28. In addition to the warning, a High Rip Current Risk remains in effect through Wednesday evening, and a Coastal Flood Advisory was active until 2:00 AM EDT on October 26.
Significant coastal flooding is anticipated across low-lying regions. Inundation is expected to impact low-lying property, including homes, businesses, and critical infrastructure. The weather event may also cause shoreline erosion and lead to the closure of numerous roadways.
Dangerous rip currents present an additional hazard along the coast. Weather officials warn that these strong currents can sweep even experienced swimmers away from the shore and into deeper waters.
