The National Weather Service (NWS) Los Angeles/Oxnard CA issued an Extreme Heat Watch on July 8 at 12:46 PM PDT. This watch specifically covers the Los Angeles County Inland Coast, including Downtown Los Angeles, and will be in effect from 10 AM PDT on Tuesday, July 14, until 8:00 PM PDT on Thursday, July 16.
During the Extreme Heat Watch, dangerously hot conditions are possible, with temperatures expected to reach 90 to 100 degrees. An earlier Heat Advisory was in effect until 10 AM PDT Tuesday, July 14, anticipating temperatures up to 82 to 94 degrees. The warmest temperatures associated with the Heat Advisory were expected on the afternoon of July 8 and July 9, followed by a slight cool down over the weekend before increasing again.
There is a high risk for dangerous heat illness for all individuals, particularly the very young, the very old, those without air conditioning, and those active outdoors. In addition, monsoonal moisture is forecast to contribute to increased discomfort levels from the heat next week.
