The National Weather Service (NWS) Los Angeles/Oxnard CA has issued an Extreme Heat Watch for the Los Angeles County Inland Coast, including Downtown Los Angeles. This watch signifies the potential for dangerously hot conditions, with temperatures forecast to reach between 90 and 100 degrees from Tuesday morning through Thursday evening.
Prior to the Extreme Heat Watch, a Heat Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM PDT Tuesday, where temperatures up to 92 degrees are possible. The warmest temperatures under the Heat Advisory are expected to occur Friday afternoon, followed by a slight cooldown over the weekend before temperatures rise again.
The high risk for dangerous heat illness affects all individuals, with particular concern for the very young, the very old, those without air conditioning, and those active outdoors. Additionally, monsoonal moisture is expected to add to the discomfort from the heat next week.
