Extreme Heat Watch Issued for Los Angeles County Valleys and Inland Areas

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an Extreme Heat Watch for several Los Angeles County areas, including the Santa Clarita, San Fernando, and San Gabriel Valleys. The watch, effective from Tuesday morning through Thursday evening, warns of dangerously hot conditions with temperatures potentially reaching 92 to 105 degrees Fahrenheit.

The Extreme Heat Watch covers a period from Tuesday morning through Thursday evening, following a Heat Advisory scheduled from 10 AM PDT Sunday to 10 AM PDT Tuesday.

The Extreme Heat Watch applies to several areas in Los Angeles County. These include the Eastern San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles County Inland Coast including Downtown Los Angeles, Los Angeles County San Gabriel Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, Santa Susana Mountains, and Western San Fernando Valley. During the preceding Heat Advisory, temperatures of 85 to 95 degrees are expected. For the Extreme Heat Watch period, dangerously hot conditions are possible, with temperatures forecast between 92 and 105 degrees.

The NWS warns of a high risk for dangerous heat illness for anyone in these regions. Sensitive populations are particularly vulnerable, including the very young, the very old, individuals without air conditioning, and those active outdoors. A high risk for heat illness is indicated for these populations.
